Syrian company Roll Black is planning to export up to 5 million tons of Syrian phosphate annually to East Asian markets through Iraq’s Umm Qasr Port, as an alternative to the traditional route through Tartous Port and the Suez Canal.

The proposed route aims to reduce transportation costs and shorten shipping times, while the necessary legal and administrative procedures are being considered to activate the new corridor.
In this context, the Iraqi Ministry of Transport has discussed with company representatives the mechanisms for transporting phosphate by road between Syria and Iraq, as well as the required technical, logistics, and customs procedures.
The discussions also included the potential use of the TIR international road transport system to facilitate truck movements between the two countries.
The initiative reflects a growing trend toward strengthening multimodal and cross-border transportation and linking Syrian and Iraqi trade corridors, potentially creating new opportunities for exports and regional logistics services.
At Al Tayseer Logistics, we closely follow developments in regional trade and transportation routes while developing efficient and flexible logistics solutions that respond to evolving shipping and market requirements.
