The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform has announced that imports of live chickens will be allowed, as part of efforts to meet local market demand and contribute to price stability following the recent rise in poultry prices.
Minister of Agriculture Bassel Al-Swidan said the decision comes in response to market needs, while authorities continue to monitor red meat prices and may intervene if further price increases are recorded.
The measure comes at a time when poultry markets are experiencing higher prices amid reduced supply and rising costs of feed and production inputs. Allowing imports is therefore intended to increase available supply and support greater market stability.
